Indian demonstration (SHAKTI)

Shakti is associated to creative energy

Main purpose

Within a cooperation agreement signed by Enedis and TATA POWER Delhi Distribution Limited, the demonstration aims at showing in a district located in New Delhi, India, how innovative solutions allow the implementation of Local Energy Communities (LEC) using local PV units and the self-consumption approach.

A specific attention is also paid with the resilience of the local energy system to the distribution network disruption, which will trigger another set of arguments to deploy such energy communities around the emerging PV deployment program in India.

The current Indian government has revised the PV capacity targets from 20 gigawatts today to 175 gigawatts by 2022. Currently, over 70% of the total power resources comes from conventional sources (thermal and hydro).

Key points & Challenges

  • Maximize the penetration of local energy in the LV grid
  • Increase the local consumption of renewable energy
  • Improve the resilience of the local energy system

Implementation

  • Mobile storage system & smart substation
  • Adapted Demand Side Management
  • Islanding capacity of the microgrid in case of an outage occurring in the area
