IElectrix is a project with a multi-stakeholder approach, which brings together 15 European partners and one Indian partner. They come from 9 countries and various domains of activity to ensure to build the most efficient and replicable solution.
Enedis activity
Enedis is a public service company that manages the electricity distribution network in France. It develops, operates and modernizes the electrical grid and manages the associated data. Enedis carries out customer connections, 24/24 and 7/7 troubleshooting, meter readings and all technical interventions. It is independent of the energy suppliers, which are responsible for the retails and management of the electricity contracts. Enedis employs 38,000 people and serves 35 million customers, that are connected to the low and medium voltage grid.
Enedis team is in charge of:
- Coordinating and managing the project
- Implementing the Indian demonstrator
- Disseminating and exploiting results
- Ethics requirements
As a DSO, it is also part of all work packages related to cross-functional issues (technical coordination, impact and deployment of solutions…).
Energie Güssing GmbH activity
Energie Güssing GmbH is the operator of the local national power grid (20 kV and 0,4) and is committed to supply approximately 3500 customers with electrical power.
The main service offerings of the company are:
- Power connections and charges
- Electricity bill
- Meter readings and data management
- Energy services to the customers
To ensure the quality of electrical power supply, Energie Güssing is using internally resources and capabilities from mother company "Elektro Güssing GesmbH".
Energie Güssing is leading the demonstration in Austria and will provide
the necessary infrastructure of the national power grid, the software and hardware environment for testing and integration in the demonstration site in Güssing, Austria to the IElectrix project.
E.dis activity
E.DIS is one of the largest regional network operators in Germany. The company operates electricity and natural gas distribution grids in large parts of the federal states of Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Today 10 GW of RES at a peak load of 2 GW are installed in the E.DIS grid. On an area of 36,000 square kilometers, E.DIS secures the power supply with its over 79,000 km network. At around 30 company locations, the company's approximately 1,400 employees ensure reliable operation of electricity and gas grids.
E.DIS team is in charge of:
- Implementing the German demonstrator
- Contributing to scalability, replication and regulatory recommendations
E.DIS wants to demonstrate the operational capabilities of a substation with mobile electricity storage to allow a right planning flexibility leading to the cost-effective system integration of additional renewables and the creation of LEC around the integration of new RES into the local system.
E.ON Észak-dunántúli Áramhálózati Zrt. activity
E.ON Észak-dunántúli Áramhálózati Zrt.'s main activity is electricity supply. The company's main tasks include system operation, network development and maintenance, regional customer relations management, as well as tasks in regard to metering and monitoring consumption.
E.ON Észak-dunántúli Áramhálózati Zrt. as part of the E.ON Hungary Group and E.ON SE is constantly focusing on transforming the power grid into an innovative, flexible and modern grid with smart solutions to meet the challenges of the future.
EED team is in charge of:
- Detailed specifications of the joint activities and technical coordination of the Demonstrations
- Implementing the Hungarian demonstration
As a DSO, it is also part of all work packages related to cross-functional issues (project management and coordination, impact and deployment of solutions, replication, regulatory recommendation…).
Hedno activity
HEDNO (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator S.Α.) was established in April 2012 in accordance with Law 4001/2011 and in compliance with EU Directive 2009/72/EC.
HEDNO is the Hellenic DSO, responsible for the development, operation and maintenance of the Electricity Distribution Network all over Greece including the mainland and the non-interconnected islands, involving different types of actors of the distribution grid.
HEDNO team:
- Participates in “Scalability, replication, regulatory recommendations and contributions to the BRIDGE project”, conducting the replicability and scalability analysis and study for Greece,
- Chairs and coordinates the project Replicability Board.
Tata Power-DDL activity
Tata Power-DDL was incorporated under the Public Private Partnership in 2002 under a regulated environment. Spread across an area of 510 sq.km, the company serves a populace of 7 million consumers.
Through the effective and optimal deployment of its aggressive, systematic and stakeholder-centric Information-Operational Technology and smart grid initiatives, it is one of the most technologically advanced utilities.
The World Bank in its ‘Doing Business’ Report has acknowledged Tata Power-DDL’s contribution towards improving the ease of getting electricity connection through process simplification improving India’s ranking from 138 in 2015 to 22 in 2019.
Tata Power-DDL team is in charge of:
- Implementing the Indian demonstration in its licensed area (Work Package9).
- Contributing to scalability, replication and regulatory recommendations.
Tata Power-DDL intends to demonstrate the implementation of a Local Energy system in its space-constraint urban area, which can be customized not only to match the customer’s requirements and enhance involvement of consumers through Local Energy communities, but also facilitate to shape the local solar generation and self-consumption.
European Center for Renewable Energy Güssing activity
The European Centre for Renewable Energy Güssing was founded to professionally coordinate and implement all projects related to renewable energy. The EEE has become a Europe-wide recognized institution for the development of sustainable regional and local concepts for energy saving and the use and production of renewable energy. As a reliable partner in various national and European networks, the EEE has gained an excellent reputation.
The main part of EEE in the project is the management and supervision of the demonstrational pilot plant in Güssing.
Objectives of the pilot:
- Develop and install network digitalization technologies
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of prototype flexibility forecasting, scheduling capabilities and human-centric demand response framework
- Demonstrate how network digitization allows improving the resilience of the local energy system
Hypertech activity
HYPERTECH aims at providing flexible solutions for small and medium-sized electricity consumers and integrated solutions for electric utilities and service providers in the field of demand management.
The business strategy of HYPERTECH includes research and development of advanced technologies, to create a full suite of solutions and products appealing to everyone involved in the electricity market.
Hypertech will be developing an analytical tool for real-time flexibility forecasting and profiling of residential loads, virtual energy storage (VES) and EV resources, considering end-user preferences and comfort levels. The tool will allow the calculation and aggregation of available flexibility from end-user assets into a dedicated demand response (DR) module, which can be dispatched to deliver flexibility services to Distribution System Operators (DSOs).
Geco Global activity
Geco Global is a research and advisory consultancy dedicated to stakeholder engagement and science communication in the energy industry. We benefit from years of experience in actual implementation of marketing and communication in the industry and an equal amount of knowledge on behavioural dynamics, models and strategies from consultancy projects and research all over the world.
Hence, we advise our clients based on both sound research and practical experience to understand customer dynamics and maximise individual, community and stakeholder engagement in the fields of demand response, energy efficiency, smart building, smart grid and related new business models. Our staff has for instance designed practical strategies (e.g. design jams, co-design / co-creation workshops) to integrate feedback and requirements into technological and service development both in commercial and H2020 projects in order to maximise adoption and impact of new business models (e.g. micro-grids, smart home, data-driven energy efficiency solutions).
Our staff also has extensive experience in organising and hosting events, workshops, expert coaching and training sessions with various stakeholders including ministries, energy authorities, utilities, NGOs and energy consumer representatives all over Europe.
Geco Global is in charge of developing, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of a common engagement strategy at customer and community level to be applied in the demonstrations as well as evaluating the approach across all pilot sites in view of future replications.
Merit Consulting House activity
Merit Consulting House sprl is a Business and Management Consulting firm focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation and on the adoption of new technology applications in the business environment, with special focus on the fields of environment and energy. Merit Consulting House activities involve business model innovation and exploitation, market and policy analysis, innovative systems’ integration, organizational change and customized process management services and techniques. The company also offers strategy, project management, financial management and ICT consulting services. Merit Consulting House has significant experience, among others, in energy efficiency, demand response management, analysis and assessment of prosumers’ energy behavior profiles, energy behavior modelling, human-centric comfort optimization strategies and energy policy reform, new models’ exploitation strategy & business innovation planning.
MERIT’s team is taking part in:
- Impact and deployment analysis of the most promising solutions.
- Scalability, replication, regulatory recommendations and contributions to the BRIDGE process.

MERIT works for the business aspects of local energy systems optimization, from use cases and business scenarios, to further exploitation planning and commercialisation of the solutions .
Circe activity
CIRCE Foundation was established in 1993 as an independent Research Centre to create and develop solutions and scientific/technical knowledge and to transfer them to the business sector in the field of energy. CIRCE carries out R&D&I activities with the ultimate aim of ensuring the energy efficiency of products, processes and services that contribute to reducing energy demand without compromising supply comfort and safety. Over 190 professionals with a broad variety of profiles compose the team of people working at CIRCE.
CIRCE is assessing the impact of the implementation of the solutions for each use-case and demo site, performing the cost-benefit analysis of the use cases.
CIRCE actively participates in KPIs identification and the definition of methodologies for their evaluation, carrying out modelling and simulation studies of the demo-sites, along with identifying their technical and regulatory barriers so as to provide inputs for the scalability and replication studies.
Comillas activity
Comillas Pontifical University is a non-profit private institution for higher education based in Madrid, represented in this project by its institute for Research on Technology (IIT).
The IIT is the leading European institution on the development of integrated models for the operation and planning of electricity systems under deregulation, and has provided extensive international consultancy on electricity market designs and network regulation.
Comillas team will work in:
- Definition of the list of KPIs used to assess the different demonstrators
- Modelling the commercial exchanges experimentally demonstrated during the use cases
- Main responsible for the Scalability and Replicability analysis
- Responsible for the analysis of regulatory barriers and recommendations
RWTH Aachen University activity
The E.ON Energy Research Center, a public-private partnership between E.ON SE and RWTH Aachen University, fosters innovative energy research with a strong link to industry.
Within this research center, the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems (ACS) focuses on multidisciplinary research approach to develop solutions for monitoring and automation of complex power systems.
Both the simulation of dynamic processes in complex network systems as well as development of ICT solutions for advanced energy services are areas of expertise of the scientists working at ACS.
RWTH Aachen with its institute ACS is contributing to the following research tasks:
- Assessment of the available flexibility in the German and the Hungarian demo-sites using a customer-centric energy management approach.
- Development of local frequency control and virtual inertia provision strategies.
- Providing technical support in the interoperability requirements definition.
Additionally, ACS is contributing to the BRIDGE initiative and dissemination activities through scientific publications.
Smart Innovation Norway activity
Established in Halden in 2003, Smart Innovation Norway AS has led the NCE Smart Energy Markets cluster since 2009, which was recognised as a gold certified cluster in 2019. The company has since then initiated or participated in more than 30 research and innovation projects, including 14 EU projects, with a total budget of more than 1.6 billion NOK. In addition, the department of Smart Cities & Communities has been involved in more than 100 innovation projects.
Smart Innovation Norway and the NCE cluster have grown from a local energy-trade initiative to a key national innovation player within the fields of Smart Energy, Smart Cities and Digitalization.
During the last couple of years, the company has also become an international business-oriented R&I player on large, prestigious Horizon 2020 projects, such as EMPOWER, INVADE and E-LAND. In august 2019, Smart Innovation Norway was approved as a research organisation by the Research Council of Norway.
In the fall of 2019, Smart Innovation Norway together with key business partners established the brand new Cluster for Applied AI to lift Norwegian companies into the future. The purpose of the cluster is to contribute to profitable and sustainable use of artificial intelligence in a business context. The cluster is mentioned by name in the Norwegian national strategy for artificial intelligence, which was released in January 2020.

Odit-e activity
Odit-e is a start-up dedicated to the digitization of the low voltage network. Our services are for Distribution System Operators and aim to improve the management, operation, and planning of the network through leveraging smart meter data.
We devote ourselves to providing insight into the current ‘blindspots’ in the low voltage network through: network mapping, predicting the impact of new installations such as photovoltaic, and estimating and predicting its state.
Odit-e team is mainly involved in the Demonstration in India on Tata Power DDL network. Odit-e technologies will be implemented to make good use of the smart meters’ data. They will provide :
- The identification of the network structure
- The network capacity estimation to promote DER insertion
- The estimation and location of non-metered energy
- A real-time state estimation to properly manage the voltage level across the grid
