Indian students from the school, where is located the Shakti demo, are strongly involved in the project. They were invited to use artistic medias to communicate about Clean Energy and Climate Action.
Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) under the EU India partnership (Horizon 2020 framework), collaborates with ENEDIS (largest utility in France), Schneider Electric (France/Spain), Geco Global (Finland) and Odit-e (Spain) with the aim to implement a Smart Grid Demonstrator in India. The demo SHAKTI focusses on integrating several Smart Grid technologies, including the use of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), to feed the Battery Energy Storage System on the Low Voltage Side of the distribution network. This real-scale demonstrator helps to study the impact on the system reliability, which is still a key challenge for any discom across the country. It also aims towards active customer engagement through the deployment of Demand Response program. The project is being implemented at the St. Xavier’s School, Civil Lines.
One of the critical aspects for any utility is its relationship with its customers. Therefore, as part of the community engagement program, several initiatives have been undertaken by Tata Power-DDL under the IELECTRIX project with support from Geco Global, a research and advisory consultancy dedicated to studying customer behaviour and engagement in the energy industry. Multiple outreach sessions including webinars on the Power Sector in India and the importance of Safety & Digitalization were organized for the students from Classes 8th to 12th witnessing an overwhelming participation from 900 students from St. Xavier’s school. Following this, an #Energy Warrior campaign was organized for the school students to share their ideas depicting the Sustainable Development Goals 7 and 13 (Affordable and Clean Energy & Climate Action) through video and voice messages, artwork, slogans and tree plantation initiatives. 59 students submitted their entries, which were jointly evaluated by the team from ENEDIS, Geco Global and Tata Power-DDL. Based on the scoring, top 3 participants in both, video and poster making competitions have been shortlisted. The students have been duly recognised as #Energy Warriors.
Students enrolled under the Energy warrior campaign shall get an opportunity to work closely for understanding the concept of sustainable & green energy solutions and a learning tour to Tata Power-DDLs Smart Grid Lab. The collaborative efforts of project stakeholders and active participation of the community at large are paving the way towards making our planet Earth, Clean, green and a healthy place to live!
